Enabling Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are stored on a users computer. They are put there by websites and can be read by the owning website when the user returns to that website. They are used by many websites to give added functionality, for example remembering visitors, and for verifying users. Many sites will not work properly without them. Below are instructions for ensuring cookies are enabled with the most popular browsers.
Internet Explorer
- From the main menu bar along the top of the window, select "Tools > Internet Options"
- Then select the tab called "Privacy".
- Slide the slider to "Medium" or click on the buttom labelled "Default".
- Then click "OK" to save your changes and restart Internet Explorer.
Firefox
- From the main menu bar along the top of the window, select "Tools > Options..."
- Then select the tab called "Privacy".
- You will then see a section called "Cookies" with a tick box labelled "Accept cookies from sites" .
- If this box is not ticked, click on it to tick it and then click "OK" to save your changes.
Safari
- From the main menu bar along the top of the window, select "Edit > Preferences..."
- Then select the tab called "Security".
- Under the heading "Accept Cookies", select one of the options that is NOT "Never". For privacy reasons, we suggest you select "Only from sites you navigate to".
Opera
- From the main menu bar along the top of the window, select "Tools > Preferences..."
- Then select the tab named "Advanced".
- Select "Cookies" from the list down the left-hand side.
- Make sure that one of the options beginning with "Accept" is selected.
- Then click "OK" to save your changes.
